First off, my appearance on Get The Puck Out on Saturday is below.
My interview with Louis Pisano of Morency Sports and Bleacher Report starts at about the 35-minute mark and lasts about 15 minutes. However, you’ll want to listen at about the 15-minute mark, as Leafs great Wendel Clark calls into the show before I do. Wow, I can remember back in the day when my brother’s room, which was a shrine to the Leafs, included a couple Wendel Clark posters. And I’m mentioned in the same breath as Wendel Clark on this show. Pretty cool. Many thanks to my old podcast partner Mark Ritter for getting me on the show, and I hope to be back there soon.
Back to our own show here… the Weekly Slapshot is getting some mention over at other sites. Thanks to hockeydraft.ca for the mention. And yes, I am a bit verbose, once I get going on a topic. Just ask my wife or the students at the college where I teach.
Now onto some fantasy hockey, where I’ll list some hot and cold players right now.
Hot: Jussi Jokinen, who scored a goal and added two assists on Sunday against the Bruins. Jokinen, who was a late add to Evan’s Fire on Ice article, has 12 points in his last eight games. You’ll want to grab the streaky Jokinen while the going is good.
Hot: Ray Whitney, who has a five-game point streak with eight points during that span. He’s only increasing the return that the Canes will receive for him at the trade deadline.
Hot: Chris Stewart, who has ten points in nine games this month and goals in four of his last five games. He’s still available in two-thirds of Yahoo leagues.
Hot: Craig Anderson, who is back to his early-season form with six consecutive wins and shutouts in two of his last three games. The Avalanche and their young talent don’t seem to be going away.
Cold: Milan Lucic, who has just two assists and a (-9) in nine games this month. Lucic has been one of the biggest fantasy disappointments this season, and not just because of injuries.
Cold: Dennis Wideman, who is probably an even bigger bust than Lucic. Wideman, who was a (-4) on Sunday against Carolina, is unrosterable right now with just two points and a (-11) in 11 games this month.
Cold: David Legwand, who has just three points and a (-5) in ten games this month. I dropped Legwand from one of my teams earlier today.
Cold: Jason Arnott, who has just one goal in his past 15 games.
Cold: Martin Erat, yet another Predator currently stuck in the Ice Age (one point in his past six games).
