Niemi is currently on a one-year deal worth $2 million after the Blackhawks decided to walk away from an arbitration award of over $3 million. With this contract, the Sharks have officially made Niemi their goaltender for the next few seasons. Based on his recent play and that of the red-hot Sharks, Niemi should be considered one of the top goaltending options down the stretch.
