MON Gainey Stepping Down As GM

The Montreal Canadiens have called a news conference on Monday to announce that Bob Gainey will be stepping down as general manager. Assistant GM Pierre Gauthier will take over the GM role on an interim basis.

Analysis: 

A new GM could affect the goaltending situation in Montreal. Gainey was believed to be shopping Jaroslav Halak, but a new GM may decide to trade Carey Price and go with Halak, who has been the better goalie this season.
