It hasn’t been a season to remember for Staal, who entered this game with just 20 points (7g-13a) and a dismal (-22) in 38 games. Moreover, he had not recorded a point in his previous six games. Staal is a consistent 70-point scorer, so now might be the time to trade for him at a discount, even if Carolina continues to stumble.

Jagr was booed mightily by the Penguins fans, likely for turning his back on the Pens this offseason to sign with the rival Flyers. Max Talbot, another former Penguin, scored an empty-net goal to seal the deal for the Flyers. Jagr has 31 points (12g-19a) and a +12 in 32 games, so he still has it after spending the previous three seasons in the KHL.

Quick currently leads the NHL with five shutouts. He also has wins in four of his last five games, the last four under new head coach Darryl Sutter.

A onetime 40-goal scorer, Semin has underwhelmed this season with just nine goals, 17 points, and a (-5). He has shown signs of turning it around recently, scoring four goals in his last five games.

Richard Bachman’s run as a starter will likely end as a result. Lehtonen was having a solid season before his injury (13-4-1, 2.35 GAA), so get him back into your lineup as soon as possible.

This news may sound like a glimmer of hope for a Crosby return, but he is in a similar position that he was during his 11-month layoff. Don’t expect him to return anytime soon.

Higgins’ hand has swollen up similar to his foot earlier this season, so he may have caught some kind of virus. If the swelling is short term, then Higgins will join the Canucks on the road trip at some point. For now, assume that he will miss Wednesday’s game against San Jose.

Weber was hit by Mark Fistric during Friday’s game and had to miss Monday’s game. The Predators have recalled Ryan Ellis to replace Weber, who was putting up big numbers this season (29 points and a +14 in 35 games). His production will be difficult for fantasy owners to replace.

Liles’ injury was originally diagnosed as a neck injury. He is tied for fourth in Leafs’ scoring with 21 points (4g-17a), so his offensive production will be missed. Move him to your team’s IR if you can.

Gagne has 17 points (7g-10a) in 34 games this season. His fantasy owners should probably look for another option unless he can be kept on IR.
