Says He Won’t Start Winter Classic
Ilya Bryzgalov told reporters on Sunday that Sergei Bobrovsky would be the starting goalie for the Winter Classic on Monday, even though Flyers coach Peter Laviolette hasn’t announced a starting goalie.
Analysis:
“I have great news and even better news,” said Bryzgalov. “OK, great news is I’m not playing (Monday), and better news is we have a chance to win the game (Monday).” Bryzgalov’s comments won’t go over well with Laviolette or his teammates, but he has failed to win any of his last four starts while allowing 16 goals over that span. Even though the Flyers haven’t given official word, it looks like Bryzgalov will be able to contemplate the universe from the bench at Citizens Bank Ballpark on Monday.
