Gonchar To Undergo Surgery

According to tsn.ca, Sergei Gonchar will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder, which will force him out of the lineup for 4 to 6 months.

Gonchar dislocated his shoulder in a preseason game just over a week ago. The Penguins had originally hoped that he would only miss a few weeks from not having surgery, but surgery was deemed necessary. The Penguins will be without their top two offensive blueliners in Gonchar and Ryan Whitney (foot) for several months this season. We’ve mentioned this several times by now, but Kris Letang is a must-add for fantasy teams since he should receive many of the power-play opportunities. Alex Goligoski is another option worth considering if Letang is not available in your league.
